BigCommerce Merchant Installation Guide
Step 1: Register a merchant app on Tensile's merchant site
- Please create a merchant account by signing up for Tensile at this link: https://merchant.tensilepayments.com/signup

- Once logged in, click "Developer" on the menu or navigate to https://merchant.tensilepayments.com/dashboard/developer
- Click "Add Application" and fill out details to receive sandbox credentials. Note "Webhook Url" is optional.

- Copy or save your credentials, we'll be using them in Step 3!

- Once complete, please email us at support@tensilepayments.com with your Tensile merchant account name (e.g. "My Test Business") and your BigCommerce store ID. E.g. if your store URL is "https://store-5zfg2m61gq.mybigcommerce.com" then your store ID is "5zfg2m61gq." We'll need to associate your BigCommerce store with your Tensile merchant profile before you can install the BigCommerce application and update settings properly within the app.
Step 2 - Install the app in your store
- Find Tensile in the app marketplace. You can simply search for "Tensile" or navigate to https://www.bigcommerce.com/apps/tensile-payments/
- Click "GET THIS APP" > "Log in" under "Existing BigCommerce store" > "Install"

- Grant the app access to your store and click "Confirm." Upon installation you should be taken to the app settings page

Step 3 - Copy over Sandbox API credentials
- Launch the app by clicking on the menu icon on the left, or navigating to My Apps and clicking "Launch"

- Paste your sandbox API credentials from Step 1

Step 4 - Enter store and helper text details
- Store URL is the BigCommerce URL for your launched store. Make sure this URL matches what users see in their browsers for Tensile to load properly during checkout!
- Note: be sure to omit "/" at the end of the store URL or else the checkout experience won't load for users!
- Payment Method Help Text can be updated if you want to change the default text. Some HTML tags and styling are allowed.

Step 5 - Save settings and install scripts to checkout page
- Hit "Save Settings" once data from steps 3 and 4 are complete
- Hit "Install Scripts" - You can also confirm installation by visiting Script Manager from the Storefront menu

Step 6 - Test transaction in Sandbox mode
- Note: "Sandbox Mode" must be selected at the top in the app settings page
- Go through the normal checkout flow, you should now see Tensile as a payment option

- Create a Tensile customer account
- On the link-a-bank page, you can link a test bank account with the credentials of username "user_good" and password "pass_good"
- Finish paying with your test account, and you should eventually be rerouted back to your BigCommerce store
Step 7 - Request production API credentials for Live Mode
- Note, you'll need to go through the KYC process with Tensile to be granted production credentials
- In your sandbox app in the Tensile merchant app, click "Request Production Access"

- Once Tensile grants production API credentials, you'll be able to see them in the Tensile merchant app dashboard on the app detail page

Step 8 - Submit production API credentials for Live Mode
- Once you're granted production credentials, copy over your production credentials in the BigCommerce app settings page

- Select "Live Mode" and click "Save Settings"
Step 9 - Test transaction in Live Mode
- Go through the flow again as in step 6
- You will need to create a new production customer and link a real bank account to complete the checkout process with Tensile
